Role SummaryThe Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for the precise and efficient fabrication of silicone edge graphics used in wide format displays, including retail signage, trade show graphics, and backlit fabric systems. This role involves operating industrial sewing machines to attach silicone gasket to fabric prints, ensuring a high level of accuracy, durability, and aesthetic quality.
Working closely with the print production and finishing teams, the operator must read and interpret work orders, measure and trim fabric as needed, and maintain equipment to meet production timelines and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience in fabric handling and sewing, and a commitment to maintaining consistency in a fast-paced production environment.
This position reports to the Print Production Manager.
Role Expectations Precision Sewing of SEG Graphics- Accurately sew silicone edging (keder/gasket) onto fabric prints using industrial sewing machines.
- Maintain clean, straight stitches and tight tolerances to ensure SEG graphics fit properly into frame systems.
- Sew Velcro, SEG (silicone edging), Zippers, Pole Pockets using standard sewing machine techniques.
- Apply grommets and other types of specialized finishing.
- Perform some test fitting and alterations to finished pieces.
- Read and follow detailed work orders, production specs, and finishing instructions.
- Ensure correct orientation, graphic alignment, and silicone placement per client requirements.
- Handle printed fabric with care to avoid smudges, creases, or damage.
- Inspect prints and seams for defects and notify supervisor of any inconsistencies or quality issues.
- Trim and finish graphics to size, ensuring clean edges and professional presentation.
- Operate and maintain sewing machines and finishing tools, keeping them in optimal working condition.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments as needed.
- Clean and organize sewing area to meet company safety and cleanliness standards.
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate production delays or issues to team leads in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the print, finishing, and shipping teams to ensure seamless production workflow.
- Take direction from Lead
- Sewing Machine Operator and collaborate with Fabric Production team members to create a culture of continuous improvement.
