Description
A press operator is responsible for maintaining print units and packaging equipment to ensure smooth operations while meeting the client's needs with the highest quality standards. Their main duties include troubleshooting machines for malfunctions or irregularities, fixing machine parts as needed to ensure proper operation, and conducting quality checks. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Requirements
What You’ll do:
- Operate five-color Didde color tech with Martin automatic splicer, chipboard inserter, soles over wrapper, and strapper.
- Manage the roll-to-cut sheet converting process, overseeing hanging rolls, ensuring print quality, and handling chipboard inserter and Sollas over wrapper. Assist with boxing, lidding, and skidding finished products.
- Set up, make ready, and operate multi-color offset printing presses to reproduce various documents, including security documents, letterheads, forms, and custom print jobs.
- Perform wash-ups, plate and blanket changes, and press and packaging equipment adjustments.
- Apply chemicals, ink, and cleaning solvents for proper press operation.
- Make precise adjustments to plates, rollers, ink fountains, and paper to produce high-quality products.
- Monitor equipment and job runs for quality and consistency throughout the process.
- Clean, oil, adjust, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
- Complete various assignments requiring thorough knowledge of techniques, materials, and equipment.
Your Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Lifting requirement of 40 pounds.
- 2-3 years of experience in a fast-paced, light industrial environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and dedication to high-quality work.
- Knowledge of press maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Promptness and reliability.
- Offset printing experience is a plus.
