Edmund Optics Europe, a US‑owned group consisting of subsidiaries in Germany, UK, Netherlands and France, is responsible for sales, marketing, distribution, engineering and application support for a wide product range throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Europe is one of the main growth markets for Edmund Optics globally, leading to a rapidly expanding and developing local team.

To accelerate our success and growth within the European market, Edmund Optics is looking for a Product Line Manager – Imaging (f/m/d).

Essential Functions
  • Develop, define and articulate an overall strategy for the specified product lines across all channels of distribution. Strategy must be supported by realistic returns on investment, marketing data and roadmap, and require close collaboration with product development, marketing and engineering.
  • Analyze target markets and segments, create a solid definition of their application needs, translate this information into new products and position these products in the marketplace. Work closely with marketing, sales and external experts to gain an in‑depth understanding of each market/segment and the competition.
  • Use data‑driven insights to make informed decisions regarding product positioning and differentiation.
  • Act as central decision maker for products within the product line. Direct functional groups without direct reporting authority, including across divisions.
  • Directly responsible for supplier relations and negotiations on third‑party products within the product line.
  • Produce marketing feasibilities and forecasts for major new product launches and work with project management and design to ensure timely completion and release.
  • Coordinate product launches with engineering, marketing and sales by utilizing all available marketing/sales channels, including publicity, web/catalog introduction, sales force training, etc. Work with the Marketplace Division to ensure proper promotion and presentation of products in various media.
  • Support the company’s sales and marketing efforts by attending trade shows and conferences, visiting customers, writing industry articles, and providing trainings and seminars.
  • Work with the global sales team to provide estimates on costing and guidance on volume customer pricing.
  • Monitor inventory and service levels to ensure customer expectations are being met. Work with strategic sourcing to ensure the product is sourced from the proper manufacturing plant.
  • Comply with statutory and company policies, procedures and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related technical field.
  • Five (5) years experience in product marketing, product development or project management.
  • Product and technology knowledge a must.
  • High level of personal initiative.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess opportunities and risks.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.
  • Willingness to work with many groups, across departments, and show strong team spirit.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to motivate and train people.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload of multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Excellent problem solving and creative thinking capabilities.
  • Comfortable with all MS Office software.
