OverviewDescription:
The Advanced Practice Nurse Anesthesia provides high quality, cost-effective patient care that supports established specialty practice objectives and strategic organizational goals. This position administers various types of anesthetics according to established medical practices and as directed by the Anesthesiologist. The APN monitors and supports life functions during the peri-operative period and recognizes and reports any abnormal patient responses to the Anesthesiologist.
It is the responsibility of this position to document all patient activities accurately into the medical record. Patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner, managing and utilizing resources optimally. The APN works collaboratively with physicians, management and staff to improve clinical outcomes and to meet customers expectations. The APN actively participates in quality improvement efforts organization wide and maintains current clinical knowledge, seeking educational and professional opportunities to enhance practice and competency.
• Provide anesthesia services under the direction of the Anesthesiologist per established medical practices.
• Monitor and support life functions during the peri-operative period and report abnormal patient responses.
• Accurately document all patient activities in the medical record.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain current clinical knowledge.
• Perform in a cost-effective manner, optimizing resource use.
Qualifications- EDUCATION:
Master s degree in nursing from an accredited school or as grandfathered by NJ Law. - LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and certified by the State Board of Nursing. Certification within area of specialty required and privileges granted from Atlantic City Medical Center medical staff. NRNNP, C or RNCNS, C registry unencumbered. BLS Health Care Provider required. - EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing;
Bachelor s degree preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and then required to demonstrate skill within 30-60 days from hire. - LICENSING/STAFFING:
Appointment as an Allied Health Practitioner with the Medical Center in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws. BLSHCP required.
Demonstrates the ability to perform department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work EnvironmentPotential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. The position requires considerable walking and standing, as well as pushing and pulling equipment. The department-specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.
