Contract Duration: 2 Years
Work Schedule: Full-Time | 35 hours per week
Work Type: 100% Onsite
The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct clinical healthcare services to incarcerated individuals. This role includes intake assessments, sick‑call services, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions, and coordination of care under the supervision of the Physician Medical Director.
The Nurse Practitioner will work onsite within a secure correctional environment and collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and correctional personnel to ensure high‑quality, compliant, and patient‑centered medical care.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care- Conduct intake medical examinations for newly admitted inmates.
- Perform routine sick‑call evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as appropriate.
- Provide follow‑up care and ongoing medical management.
- Work under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director.
- Collaborate with nursing, mental health, and correctional staff.
- Refer patients to specialty or off‑site care when clinically indicated.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in patient records.
- Ensure compliance with New Jersey correctional healthcare standards.
- Follow established clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) - Required
Licensure & Certification: Active and unrestricted New Jersey Nurse Practitioner License - Required
Experience- Experience providing clinical care in:
- Correctional facilities
- Institutional or comparable healthcare environments
- Intake and sick‑call medical evaluations
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
- Medication management and clinical decision‑making
- Correctional healthcare practices
- Interdisciplinary collaboration
- Accurate medical documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a secure environment
- Licensed New Jersey Nurse Practitioner
- Experience working in correctional, institutional, or high‑acuity settings
- Comfortable delivering care onsite in a correctional facility
- Strong clinical judgment, organization, and communication skills
