A day in the life of a Registered Nurse Non Acute involves delivering evidence‑based nursing practices and ensuring safe, individualized patient care. Core duties include:

• Assessment
  • Collect comprehensive data relevant to the patient's situation.
  • Perform age‑ and disease‑specific assessments independently.
  • Recognize clinical status changes.
  • Identify variables in patient/family education needs.
• Planning
  • Develop care plans with strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Formulate age‑ and disease‑specific goals based on assessment data.
  • Coordinate a patient/family focused plan of care.
• Implementation
  • Communicate, coordinate, and implement care plans.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with patients/families and the healthcare team.
  • Provide age‑ and disease‑specific care in an organized, timely manner.
  • Coordinate patient/family education and ensure understanding.
  • Follow established protocols, document events, and advocate appropriately.
  • Document patient assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations at the point of care.
  • Administer medication using bar‑scanning technology.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary discharge planning.
• Evaluation
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes.
  • Use critical thinking to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Initiate interventions for changes in condition or unexpected responses.
• Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify and address ethical issues.
  • Enhance patient satisfaction opportunities.
  • Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses.
  • Lift a minimum of 35 lbs., push/pull a minimum of 10 lbs., stand for at least 6 hours/day.
  • Adhere to HMH's organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

• BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire (applicable for hires on or after November 2019).
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
• Strong sense of accountability, teamwork focus, dedication to ongoing education, and commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care.

• National certification in an area of specialty preferred when eligible.

• New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse License.
• Basic Life Support/CPR certification by the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency. Posted hourly rates may be represented as an annual salary and vice versa, depending on job duties and credentials. Compensation is benchmarked against market data, relevant experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and departmental budget or grant funding.

Additional compensation may include performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions, as well as shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts.

Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.

Minimum rate: $41.90 per hour.
