Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Nurse provides high quality, cost-effective patient care that supports established specialty practice objectives and strategic organizational goals. The Advanced Practice Nurse establishes preventive measures, diagnoses and treats illnesses and disorders in a competent manner that is consistent with medical practice and joint protocols as established with the collaborating physician. This position ensures that patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner, managing and utilizing resources optimally.
By demonstrating compassion and respect for the individual, the Advanced Practice Nurse provides care that meets the customer's expectations. The Advanced Practice Nurse works collaboratively with physician leaders, administration and staff to improve clinical outcomes, participates in quality improvement efforts organization-wide and plays an active role as a member of the appropriate divisional and departmental committees. The Advanced Practice Nurse maintains current technical knowledge and seeks educational and professional opportunities to enhance clinical practice and competency.
The Advanced Practice Nurse contributes to the organization's educational programs and teaching activities and participates in the peer review process to enhance clinical practice.
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or grandfathered by NJ Law.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and certified by the State Board of Nursing.
- Certification within the area of specialty and granted privileges from Atlantic City Medical Center medical staff.
- NRNNP, C or RNCNS, C registry unencumbered.
- ACLS required in Urgent Care, Atlanti Care Physician Group and Heart Failure Program (not required in other settings).
- BLS required.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the field of specialty as an RN in the State of New Jersey.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; skill will be required within 30–60 days from date of hire.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work Environment- Potential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood-borne pathogens, and potential injury.
- Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment, and excessive standing and walking; lifting approximately 25–30 lbs frequently.
- The department provides an Assessment and Evaluation Tool that lists the essential functions of this position.
This Advanced Practice Nurse collaborates with the physician and reports to the appropriate Administrator. The position also reports to Nursing or Departmental Leadership.
