Veterinary Assistant (Experienced) – Join the Bark Avenue Team!
Location: Riverdale, NJ
Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 3+ Years
At Bark Avenue Veterinary Services, we don’t just treat pets—we help them live their best day ever. Inspired by the magic of Central Park and the charm of NYC, we’ve created a whimsical, low-stress environment where every furry bestie (and their human) feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who brings clinical expertise, kindness, and a concierge-level touch to every patient and client interaction. You’ll be an essential part of a team that goes the extra mile—whether that’s comforting a nervous pup, helping a client understand treatment options, or keeping our hospital sparkling clean and ready for the next adventure.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and treatments
- Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, administer medications, and run in-house lab tests (Idexx)
- Deliver thoughtful, confident client communication and expert pet parent education
- Take detailed patient histories and input notes into electronic medical records
- Provide compassionate nursing care including wound care, bandaging, and post-op support
- Take high-quality radiographs (bonus if you’re comfortable with dental rads!)
- Keep treatment areas clean, sterilize instruments, and help us maintain our beautiful space
- Collaborate with a fun, supportive team that loves learning, laughter, and leveling up care
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a veterinary assistant or technician
- Confidence in drawing blood and placing IV catheters
- Comfortable with client communication and passionate about pet parent education
- Fear Free Certified or willing to become certified (we’ll support you!)
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
- Comfortable using in-house lab machines and digital radiography
- Enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, high-touch, low-stress environment
- Bonus points if you love NYC vibes, park walks, and elevating everyday moments for pets

As we build something special from the ground up, we’re creating a culture rooted in compassion, concierge-level care, and serious team support. Our current schedule is designed to give clients options beyond the 9–5—and give our team meaningful breaks, too.
We believe in nurturing our team with professional growth, joyful workplace culture, and purpose-driven work. Your skills, your voice, and your love for animals will be celebrated here.
