Job Description

The Area Manager is responsible for the development of independent restaurant and other related food service account business, with emphasis on overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration. The Area Manager may also support customer service activities for regional and/or national chain customers, thereby increasing visibility of the company in the marketplace and maximizing market share.

Responsibilities
  • Generate additional business by analyzing sales territory and individual customers; sample products with existing and potential customers; plan general sales strategy including time and territory management; develop sales approach with individual customers; and conduct effective sales presentations.
  • Grow sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Set up new customer accounts by determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with other center personnel for scheduling order‑taking and deliveries; follow up with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing exemplary service, coordinating efforts with center personnel to prevent and resolve customer problems, and assuming responsibility for making deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Build additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability of individual accounts.
  • Minimize accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and following up on any issues.
  • Maintain awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly on market‑driven/commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 1–2 years of food service sales‑related work experience
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Candidate must live in the sales territory
  • Will consider relocation assistance for experienced candidates
