Major Function

As an Armed Security Officer safety is the number one priority and our Security Department is at the forefront of our systems efforts. Inspira Health Security Officers are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, and visitors by screening and monitoring entrance points to our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while screening for weapons and aiding with disruptive incidents and staff protection.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of armed law‑enforcement experience or four (4) years active military service and separated from active service more than five (5) years ago.
• Must not have been discharged from the military under dishonorable conditions.
• Must exhibit good moral character with no crimes of moral turpitude and must pass a background check, MMPI‑2 evaluation administered every five (5) years.
• Must not have any felony, drug‑related, domestic‑violence, or other criminal convictions that would discredit the employee or prevent carrying a firearm.
• Must pass a firearms marksmanship qualification course issued by SORA through the NJ State Police.
• Must pass a physical fitness standard for Armed Security Officer set by the organization before hire and maintain it every five (5) years thereafter.
• Must possess a Level Three Retention Holster for their approved handgun while employed.
• Must possess a 9mm full‑size frame handgun.

• Valid driver's license required.
• Basic Security Officer Certification (IAHSS) required within one (1) year of hire.
• Inspira Health approved de‑escalation and common‑language training required within 100 days of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS required within 100 days.
• Valid State of New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun required.
• Valid State of New Jersey Armed SORA license required.

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to handle stress and pressure and make sound decisions in high‑stress situations.
• High attention to detail and observational awareness.
• Effective interaction with hospital employees, visitors, patients, contractors, and volunteers.
