• Decision making:
  Responsible for making decisions surrounding vehicle diagnostics and repair
• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents; diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
• Coordinate work schedules with customers; road test vehicles to identify causes of complaints; ensure quality of repair work and customer satisfaction
• Perform preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs including systems such as A/C, brakes, electrical, and other PM tasks as listed in maintenance guidelines
• Operate and use Shop Management System and electronic documentation; ensure compliance with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain required records
• Ensure proper maintenance of service, safety, and environmental records to meet corporate and regulatory requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational/Technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires)
• Diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems)
• Advanced skilled repairs including major engine work, diesel after-treatment, or automotive fuel injection
• Four (4) years or more relevant experience preferred
• CDL A preferred; other state licenses as required
• Minimum tools to perform job duties per Ryder Maintenance policy 2.02
• Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and take home assigned mobile service truck as applicable
• Ability to understand and adhere to company policies; complete repair orders; maintain professional relationships; work independently or in a team; prioritize workload
• Strong customer service and account management skills; proven hands-on mechanic capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication; self-starter with time management and multi-tasking abilities
• PMs and specific maintenance competency within stated timelines (e.g., PM230/PM298, BA220/BA298, BH220/BH298, TW220, AC220/AC298, DR208, SBTIII/SBT Phase 2, and related OEM online tool courses as required by fleet)
• Must be able to pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle checks as required
