Electrical & Mechanical contractor seeking a dedicated, responsible and service-minded GENERATOR TECHNICIAN with 3+ years’ experience to work in the industrial sector to install, service and troubleshoot commercial, diesel and gas operated generators and automatic transfer switches. Responsible for mechanical and electrical repairs on Kohler, Cummins, Onan and other related equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Installation:
Installing new generator units, transfer switches, and related electrical equipment safely and correctly. - Maintenance:
Performing routine preventative maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, and loadbank testing. - Troubleshooting and repair:
Diagnosing and repairing issues with generator engines, electrical systems, and electronic controls, including replacing parts and calibrating systems. - Testing:
Regularly testing generators to ensure they are ready for use and operate at peak efficiency and output. - Inventory and reporting:
Maintaining a stock of spare parts, completing work orders, and keeping detailed logs of activities. - Safety:
Adhering to all company safety rules and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical skills:
Strong knowledge of diesel and natural gas engines, electrical systems (including AC), generator components, and electronic controls. - Diagnostic ability:
Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems. - Physical requirements:
Manual dexterity for handling small components and physical strength for handling heavy equipment. - Other skills:
Good communication skills for interacting with customers and management. - Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with several years of experience with power generation equipment. - Other requirements:
Ability to work under pressure, willingness to travel, and sometimes working irregular hours, including overtime, weekends, or holidays; valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus).
