Journeyman Plumber

Position Summary

Provides journeyman-level plumbing operations and maintenance support for the medical treatment facility, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and minor installation of plumbing systems and equipment. The employee must perform all assigned work in compliance with the Northeast OMEE PWS, applicable federal/state/local law, installation requirements, safety requirements, and manufacturer instructions.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on domestic water, sanitary waste, storm drainage, fixtures, valves, piping, water heaters, pumps, and related plumbing systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair leaks, stoppages, fixture failures, piping deficiencies, drainage problems, and other plumbing system issues.
• Support water conservation, water quality, shutdown planning, and restoration of affected systems.
• Perform backflow testing/repair, gas piping, or other specialty work only when the employee holds the additional credential required for that work.
• Coordinate work affecting clinical operations, infection prevention, utility shutdowns, or patient-care spaces with site management and Government representatives.
• Complete PM/CM work documentation, test reports, inspection records, and required Government maintenance records within required timelines.
• Immediately report unsafe, noncompliant, degraded, or mission-impacting plumbing conditions.
• All other work as assigned.

• Minimum three (3) years of plumbing maintenance experience in healthcare facilities.
• Documented journeyman-level plumbing qualification meeting PWS §1.5.7.1.
• REQUIRED: Work must be performed within the New Jersey Master Plumber/bona fide representative supervision structure applicable to the employer and assigned work.
• REQUIRED: Any New Jersey license, registration, or credential legally required for the specific plumbing duties assigned.
• REQUIRED for backflow testing/repair: applicable State certification.
• REQUIRED for major natural-gas supply-line repair: compliance with all applicable State licensing requirements and documented prior gas-line experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet installation/base access requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, technical instructions, and safety procedures appropriate to the position.
• Ability to work in an occupied healthcare environment and follow infection-prevention, life-safety, utility-outage, and patient-care coordination requirements.
• Ability to respond to emergency maintenance conditions and perform after-hours/on-call support when assigned.
• Must maintain all licenses, certifications, permits, training, and qualifications required for assigned duties throughout employment.

• Military medical facility or hospital O&M experience.
• Backflow prevention tester certification.
• Experience with healthcare domestic water, sanitary, medical support utilities, pumps, valves, and controlled utility shutdowns.

Employee shall maintain all professional licenses, certifications, permits, training, and qualifications required by the Northeast OMEE Performance Work Statement and applicable federal, state, and local laws throughout employment. The employee shall provide copies of applicable credentials upon request. Assignment to this position does not authorize the employee to perform work requiring a separate trade, specialty, environmental, safety, OEM, or state license unless the employee possesses the applicable credential.
