As an Operations Manager, you are a critical part of the base leadership team, overseeing day‑to‑day operations that ensure the safe, efficient, and high‑touch delivery of services for private aviation guests, crews, and residents. You lead by example, coordinating and directing team activities while upholding Signature Aviation’s gold standard of hospitality. You’ll also step into frontline duties alongside your team to ensure a seamless guest experience throughout the terminal.
This dynamic role requires flexibility in scheduling (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments near active aircraft and ground service equipment.
- Lead a team conducting base operations safely and efficiently in accordance with established policies and SOPs.
- Manage the performance of the Airside and Guest Experience teams, ensuring technical accuracy, demeanor, and adherence to company policies.
- Interview, onboard, train, and manage team members, ensuring their engagement and development.
- Schedule, coordinate, and assign duties to qualified team members; conduct shift and team member meetings and manage special events.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and assistance; ensure all airline‑required training is administered and completed.
- Serve as a resource on guest service matters and as an escalation point for inquiries.
- Assist with ramp operations as needed (aircraft storage, cargo, fueling, de‑icing, lavatory, ground power, potable water, parking, marshalling, wing walking, catering, towing).
- Prepare for arriving/departing aircraft, identify and perform open job tasks, and correct safety concerns.
- Operate and drive all ground service equipment such as fuel trucks, de‑icing trucks, ground power units, tugs, stair trucks, and freight handling equipment.
- Assist with and manage regulatory compliance, audits, and reporting for airport or government parties.
- Manage inventory of base supplies, uniforms, and equipment in compliance with procurement and expensing procedures.
- Maintain security of premises and safe, clean, and secure ramps.
- Monitor and maintain fuel inventories, including ordering, quality control checks, receipt, and documentation.
- Stop work when an unsafe condition or act could cause harm to people, the environment, or Company assets.
- Follow emergency response procedures during critical events.
- Enforce security protocols as dictated by Signature Aviation and the airport.
- Maintain accurate records of time worked, activities, and services performed; may be responsible for payroll oversight.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1‑2 years of experience or training in aviation or cargo operations, or equivalent education and experience.
- Trained and approved to perform specialty responsibilities (e.g., oil, oxygen, towing, de‑icing) is preferred; ability to become approved is required.
- Minimum age 18.
- Pass company background checks, drug tests, and meet airport security badge requirements; be insurable by the Company’s insurance policies.
- Excellent vision and coordination; pass a color vision test for fuel inspection.
- Legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction of employment.
- Valid state driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required for certain PATs.
- Leadership: assign tasks, provide feedback, administer corrective action, motivate team.
- Hospitality: excellent guest service skills; anticipate guest needs; prioritize requests; maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Language: read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate clearly in English.
- Math: perform basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions).
- Physical: operate motor vehicles and ground support equipment; meet other physical requirements.
- Critical Thinking: solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret varied instructions.
- Interpersonal: collaborate effectively with team members and guests.
- Computer: use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); complete company software training.
- Task Management: excellent time and project management; complete training programs timely.
