Position PurposeThe Maintenance Technician serves as a hands‑on technical resource for resolving equipment problems that affect production. The individual identifies and resolves tooling and machine‑related issues, implements corrective actions, procures replacement parts, and performs equipment repairs. The role reports to the shift supervisor and requires availability between the 2nd and 3rd shift hours (approximately 3:15 PM – 7:00 AM).
Responsibilities- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements on production machines.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, etc.
- Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare maintenance reports.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and building networks.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to maintain continuity among work teams.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Assist in team efforts to accomplish related results as needed.
- Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude.
- Perform basic arithmetic to resolve practical problems.
- Operate a computer, including spreadsheets and reporting software.
- Wear and use required PPE.
- Read written instructions and complete documentation.
- Use a logical approach to troubleshooting and prioritizing production needs.
- Recognize problems early and work toward solutions.
- Pay attention to detail and pursue quality; identify opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity.
- Handle challenges skillfully, thoroughly, and effectively.
- Communicate effectively with co‑workers, team members, and customers; present information clearly.
- Deliver work on time and with high quality.
- Develop good work practices and use equipment efficiently.
- Apply good judgment in decision making.
- Perform work safely and cooperatively with management, co‑workers, customers, and vendors.
2+ years of related work experience, a technical degree related to maintenance, or a satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Demands- Climb, ascend, and descend ladders, stairs, and/or ramps.
- Balance and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
- Bend at the waist, crouch, and/or kneel.
- Stand for sustained periods.
- Walk.
- Use hands for fingering, picking, typing, and working primarily with fingers.
- Grasp and apply pressure with fingers and palm.
- Feel and perceive attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touch.
- Talk and express ideas verbally to convey detailed or important instructions.
- Hear and perceive sounds at normal speaking levels without correction.
- Subject to environmental conditions with no protection from weather.
- Subject to extreme heat; temperatures may exceed 100°F for extended periods.
- Subject to noise that may require shouting to be heard.
- Subject to hazards; work in close proximity to mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and/or chemicals.
- Required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
