Illinois Bone & Joint Institute is hiring a Full‑time Occupational Therapist, CHT who is interested in working in an orthopedic/hand therapy based clinic. We are looking for a flexible, dynamic, motivated therapist with previous Out‑Patient experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation to join our team at the New Lenox location.

Job Summary

The focus of this position is to provide orthopedic care to a variety of patients with upper extremity diagnosis. IBJI follows an integrated care model with close collaboration with onsite physicians, therapists, athletic trainers, technicians, nursing and front desk staff to deliver exceptional orthopedic‑based care. The main objective: comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation and treatment of patients of all ages and diagnoses.

Qualifications
  • Previous Out‑Patient Hand Therapy experience
  • CHT required
  • Experience with custom orthotics/splinting
  • Ability to multitask and be a team player
  • Interest in working with all types of patients, including athletes
  • Open and excited to learn new skills and grow as a clinician
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with onsite and offsite physicians
  • Involvement in professional development and continuing education
Responsibilities
  • Performs initial evaluations, establishes treatment plan with functional goals, implements individualized treatment program using task‑oriented activities or exercises to restore physical function.
  • Fabricates custom or dispenses non‑custom upper extremity orthotics to protect healing bone/muscle/soft tissue and/or facilitate range of motion.
  • Completes written documentation (Initial Evaluation, Progress Summary, Discharge Summary) to physicians.
  • Responsible for upgrading treatment and goals and determining appropriate time of discharge.
  • Communicates regularly with physician and other team members to maximize outcome for the client.
  • Completes daily documentation.
  • Assists with training and supervision of Rehabilitation Technicians.
  • Assists with maintaining and ordering Occupational Therapy supplies and equipment.
  • Has opportunity to supervise Level I and II Occupational Therapy students, or shadowing by individuals interested in the field of Occupational Therapy.
  • Participates in ongoing continuing education opportunities in and outside of IBJI.
  • Develops relationships with physicians in and outside of IBJI to promote our services and treatment philosophy through shadowing, attending patient appointments and interoffice communication.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited college or university.
  • Illinois licensed.
  • Ability to change body position frequently: sit, stand, stoop, bend, reach throughout shift.
  • Excellent eye–hand coordination and ability to manipulate objects/materials for orthotic fabrication and functional activities or exercises.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs bilaterally.
  • Ability to assist in transferring clients from wheelchair to mat table.
Salary and Benefits

Base salary offers: $80,000 – $105,000 per year (Full‑time). We also offer paid holidays and paid time off.
