* Summary:

** Maintain Transfusion Services Department in an efficient and effective operation. Reports to supervisor and manager.
*
* Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Exhibit a positive attitude and display behavior consistent with Silver Cross Hospital core values
* Be a role model and resource for other staff, performing testing following laboratory procedure
* Review antibody identification
* Train new employees in Transfusion Medicine in accordance with the Silver Cross Transfusion Services policy and procedures
* Perform competencies in Transfusion Medicine for new and existing employees
* Function as charge tech in absence of supervisor / manager
* Communicate with incoming/outgoing shift designee to assess department status including daily department safety huddle as assigned
* Assist in training and evaluating of students to ensure completion of training documents
* Participate in writing/reviewing department policies and procedures in accordance with CAP and CLSI guidelines, ensuring that employees are informed and understand changes
* Assist with assigning CAP surveys and gathering evidence of compliance for CAP checklists
* Review exception and correction reports as assigned by leadership
* Assist in review of maintenance, temperature, and QC logs and help to address deviations and omissions
* Assist in entering current and new lots of reagent and QC into computer programs and analyzers
* Assist in taking inventory to maintain par levels of QC and reagent inventory, may help place orders as appropriate
* Assist in daily review and troubleshooting of QC outliers and trends and notify supervisor / manager
* Perform bench duties as assigned
* Participate in validation and training for new lab equipment
** Requirements:
** Bachelor’s Degree plus MT/MLS (ASCP) or Associate’s Degree plus MLT (ASCP). 3 years of Blood Bank experience preferred
** Work Shift Details:
** Days, Day shift 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Rotating weekends and holidays

The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.

The expected pay for this position is listed below:$30.70 - $38.38
