Root Center for Advanced Recovery is looking for a dedicated MAT Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder in our Medication Assisted Treatment program. Candidates will provide individualized counseling, manage client treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.

New London, CT – Salary: $62,000–$72,000 per year

The role is based at our methadone dispensary and includes full counseling duties under clinic supervision. Responsibilities include assessment, education, safety planning, treatment planning, case management, referrals, and record keeping. Licensed counselors receive a $4,000 sign‑on bonus; non‑licensed masters receive a $2,000 bonus.

• Counseling Clients; facilitates individual and group counseling; safety planning/risk assessment; identifies problems and provides strategies for resolution and/or intervention to assist clients in reaching treatment goals.
• Develops treatment plans outlining objectives, action steps, and services to achieve goals.
• Manages case schedules, administers urinalysis testing, monitors progress, coordinates transportation, and collaborates with families and other facilities.
• Refers clients to related programs or services, assisting with eligibility or financial applications.
• Conducts intake, eligibility determination, and orientation to program operations and policies.
• Performs client assessments and evaluations, gathering history and collaborating with external agencies.
• Maintains thorough documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, charts, summaries, and reports as required by agency policies.
• Participates in team meetings, case conferences, supervisory sessions, and multidisciplinary discussions.
• Handles front‑desk duties, monitors fee systems, manages client intake/outflow, and oversees facility security.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, funding requirements, and accreditation guidelines.

• Master’s degree in a related field, qualifying for Connecticut licensure.

• State licensure expected within 2 years of hire.
