Job Summary:

Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property including but not limited to cleaning guest rooms, interior public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior spaces, etc. Services include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning and removal of debris, trash transport of clean and dirty linen and towels.

Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment to perform duties.

• Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas.
• Operates cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, polisher).
• Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes and polishes room furniture; washes walls, partitions, air vents; disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories.
• Washes and replaces window treatments; cleans ceiling fixtures; changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
• Moves furniture to clean under and behind; uses step stools to clean windows and window treatments; cleans cabinet tops, mirrors and picture frames.
• Cleans bathroom areas (tub, tile, walls, commode, floors, vanity) and kitchen areas (stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, floor).
• Washes and disinfects dishes, utensils and cookware; irons and replaces ironing board covers; maintains luggage racks and closet hangers; ensures TVs, alarms, and in-room phones are clean and properly programmed.
• Places appropriate amenities in rooms; replaces bed linen and inspects mattresses; re-positions beds as needed.
• Greets and welcomes guests, maintains outstanding guest relations; ensures privacy and security of guests.
• Cleans corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios and balconies; shampoos rugs and carpets; completes scheduled carpet cleaning with appropriate equipment.
• Performs deep cleaning as required (e.g., defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows, carpet cleaning, wall cleaning) for pet-friendly or ADA service animal rooms.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms; communicates room status to supervisor; completes daily assignments or uses property management system in housekeeping.
• Accomplishes minor repairs and reports major repairs or replacements to supervisor; cleans and inspects exterior spaces (parking lots, outside walkways).
• May load/unload trucks; assists with receipt, assembly, storage and delivery of merchandise; moves heavy items with hand trucks; uses basic hand tools when needed.
• Responsible for pass keys and returns all keys at end of shift; reports unusual circumstances (no luggage, vacancies, extra guests, unauthorized pets).
• Reports lost and found items to housekeeping supervisor with location details.
• May setup/break down and clean up the complimentary self-service breakfast bar; assists with breakfast item preparation and replenishment; ensures area is clean post-breakfast; may require food handling certifications as applicable.
• Completes required safety and security training; maintains a clean and safe environment; applies safety measures for contaminated linens and items.
• Follows NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG protocols during daily service activity.
• Pans out laundry operations at the facility; may require valid state driver's license to travel to other lodging facilities; may require NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment.

Qualifications
No experience required. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
