A qualified CRNA is responsible for the management of nurse anesthesia in collaboration with departments of anesthesia, surgery, and peri-operative administration. Develops and interprets organizational policies for budgets and personnel; assumes responsibility for safe and proper operations and quality control of equipment, techniques, and procedures. The manager of CRNA services will structure activities to anticipate and respond to the impact of managed care and other market forces on health care delivery.

The manager will ensure that the CRNA service line provides seamless delivery of care, superior outcomes, and a competitive cost structure. The CRNA manager will collaborate with peri-operative leadership and staff to achieve the hospital's strategic objectives and mission: patient service, teaching, research, and community service. The CRNA manager serves as a direct link between hospital strategies and the CRNA service line.

  • Administrative:
    Must be a full-time employee and work a five-day work week, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet department needs. Weekend coverage as needed per perioperative demands; weekend leadership rounding as needed.
  • Operational:
    Assists CRNA clinical coordinator regarding allocations of nurse anesthetists to meet departmental needs while balancing PTO requests and CME requirements.
  • Educational & Training:
    Coordinates educational in-services with Lead CRNA for Training & Development on OR initiatives to promote patient safety.
  • Clinical:
    Clinical anesthesia responsibilities and related activities are directed by work schedule needs.
  • Personal & Professional Development:
    Demonstrates an interest in learning current anesthesia techniques and integrating new information in the provision of anesthesia.
  • Fiscal:
    Develops and manages a budget to ensure delivery of cost-effective, quality care.
  • Human Resources:
    Provides vision and leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Customer Satisfaction & Outcome Management:
    Develops customer relations standards reflecting excellence in collaboration with peri-operative leadership.
Qualifications

Education The information is presented as:

Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs or its predecessor. Current State of Connecticut Nursing License. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.

Experience Employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with at least 3 years of experience. Experience in a CRNA leadership role preferred.

Licensure Hold current CT license as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse. Complies with state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning advanced practice registered nursing. Is currently recertified as defined by the AANA Council of Recertification. Candidate must also be a member in good standing with the AANA.

Special Skills Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities. Holds BLS and ACLS certifications. Demonstrates current competency in the management/clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is applying.
