Directs and supervises all klacht shift/department activities. Directs, educates and assists nursing staff in the provision of quality patient care according to department standards of practice and standards of care to maintain high quality services. Assists nurse manager in providing leadership support to staff, scheduling, and evaluating personnel. Plans, develops, facilitates and coordinates the operation of the unit/department.
Responsibilities- Assess global needs of patients on the unit/department and match with staff competencies to provide needed services. Delegate patient care assignments to staff according to identified needs and abilities.
- Demonstrate appropriate clinical competencies for the nursing unit to evaluate, plan, and/or provide patient care through delegation, consulting, or as a direct patient care provider.
- Assist manager with hiring new staff and identify and communicate any disciplinary/performance issues.
- Review and monitor quality improvement activities, follow through on staff participation, and problem solve as necessary.
- Intervene in a timely manner to resolve customer complaints. Hold self and others accountable for meeting objectives and commitments. Enforce high standards for the quality of patient care delivered on the unit.
- Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, ensuring that people get the information they need to do their jobs.
- Actively participate in employees’ annual review process.
- Serve as a preceptor to new staff. 安卓助 manager and educator in coordinating orientation and ensuring staff competencies are current.
- Assist nurse manager in maintaining up‑to‑date resource materials to ensure proper staff development.
- Provide accurate and consistent interpretation and application of human resource policies.
- Assist manager with the development of the budget, adjusting resource allocations to demand, and assist nurse manager in completing weekly payroll processes.
- Demonstrate ability to provide a safe environment for patients, self, and staff.
- Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self development as outlined in performance review.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Education
Graduate juego from an accredited school of nursing is required. BSN required or ADN accepted with proof of matriculation into a BSN program upon hire.
Experience
2–5 years clinical experience preferred. One year of charge nurse or equivalent experience preferred.
Licensure
Current CT RN licensure. BLS required.
Special Skills
Certification in specialty area required.
