The UNM Department of Fine Arts invites applicants to apply for a Temporary Part‑Time Faculty (Adjunct/Unit
2) member to teach one of the following subject areas for Spring 2026. This posting is primarily for face‑to‑face instruction delivery of courses.
These positions will be hired on an as‑needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. The specific courses include, but are not limited to, the following:
- ARTS
1810 - Jewelry and Small Metal Construction I
This course introduces the basic techniques, materials, and tools traditionally used in the creation of jewelry and/or small‑scale sculptural objects.
We propose a base salary of $1,135.26 to $1,227.89 per credit hour depending on successful candidates' qualifications. This posting is for face‑to‑face delivery of courses.
Minimum Qualifications- A master's degree in fine arts, or a relevant degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree.
- Successful teaching experience in a post‑secondary institution, particularly a community college.
- Demonstrated experience in remote delivery of instruction.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

- Candidates should provide a list of technical skills in the area of expertise and be able to exhibit abilities in sawing, filing, finishing, soldering, stone setting, casting and additional fabrication techniques.
- Candidates should provide an example syllabus for a semester long Jewelry and Small Metal Construction class.
- Candidates should be active in the field and provide a portfolio of work of at least ten images and up to twenty.
- Provide three references for teaching experience.
Applicants who are appointed to a UNM faculty position are required to provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to their initial employment with UNM.
