Apprentice Wastewater Operator OIT - Level IV – Full Time Position Available

The incumbent's primary duty will be to oversee existing sewer infrastructure including force main, lift station, evaporative lagoons, and irrigation leach field to ensure effluent is treated and disposed of in compliance with all Tribal, State, and Federal requirements. This will be concurrent with the ongoing development of a new wastewater treatment facility. The incumbent's responsibility will also be to review and provide feedback on an array of technical documents, profile plans, and design plans that will aid in the development of the new wastewater treatment facility prior to and during construction.
Once the newly constructed wastewater treatment facility is fully operational, incumbent's duties will include inspecting, repairing, operating, and maintaining various wastewater treatment facility equipment and laboratory devices to ensure the new facility operates at its expected capacity. As a lead for the division (Wastewater Level 3 or higher) will provide guidance and work allocation to assigned wastewater operators with the ability to demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties and wastewater treatment facility operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Operator in Training (OIT) 0-2 years of experience in the Water and Wastewater industry.
- New Mexico Environment Departments Wastewater Systems Certification Level I, II, III or IV.
- 1-6 years of experience in the Water and Wastewater industry.
- Ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions.
- Must have the ability to review and understand lab requirements and computer equipment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50-100) pounds on a regular basis and sustain prolonged walking and standing.
- Must be able to make visual and audio inspections of field equipment and facilities.
- Must be able to work extended work hours, weekends, evenings, holidays, or “on call”.
- Must be familiar with all safety protocols required in conducting the duties above.
- Must be able to successfully pass an alcohol/drug test and background check.
- Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license with ability to meet Santo Domingo Pueblo liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.

Salary: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
