PM is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer / Cost Controller to support complex projects within nuclear operating environments. This role supports medium to large-scale projects and requires a strong background in cost engineering, forecasting, and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS). The ideal candidate will bring a disciplined, analytical approach to cost control and reporting, ensuring accurate financial visibility and compliance with established project controls procedures.
This position works closely with project management, scheduling, procurement, and finance stakeholders to monitor performance, identify trends, and support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and maintain cost control processes and procedures in alignment with project requirements.
- Establish and maintain cost breakdown structures (CBS), budgets, and control accounts consistent with project execution plans.
- Track, analyze, and forecast project costs, including commitments, expenditures, accruals, and earned value.
- Perform cost variance analysis and clearly explain deviations from baseline budgets and forecasts.
- Support monthly and periodic project reporting, including cost performance metrics such as CPI, EAC, ETC, and variance narratives.
- Validate contractor and supplier progress claims and support recommendations for payment.
- Assist with preparation of change control estimates and evaluate cost impacts associated with scope changes and variations.
- Coordinate closely with schedulers to ensure alignment between cost and schedule data for EVMS reporting.
- Provide accurate, timely cost data to support management decision-making and project reviews.
- Support continuous improvement of cost control tools, processes, and reporting methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field (Can be substituted with additional work experience)
- 8 years of experience in cost engineering or project controls on complex nuclear/energy projects.
- Strong working knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems
- Proficiency with cost control and reporting tools such as SAP, Excel, and Power BI.
- Must be willing to work on-site in Eunice, NM for extended periods of time.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Salary: $150-$170K per year
