Hidalgo Medical Services is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in the high desert/mountainous community of Silver City, New Mexico. Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

HMS is embarking on an exciting expansion by adding optometry services at our health center in Silver City. As our Optometrist, you will help grow a brand-new Optometry Department scheduled to open in fall of 2024. With strong leadership support and the latest technology, this role offers the chance to shape the future of eye care for an underserved rural community.

Given limited access for the Medicaid members of our community, we expect this practice to grow quickly and provide a much needed service.

In this role you will:

• Lead the growth of a new Optometry Department and create a positive work environment
• Perform comprehensive eye examinations
• Diagnose and manage a wide variety of ocular diseases and visual system disorders
• Surgical co-management with ophthalmology
• Prescribe corrective lenses and other optical aids
• Assist with hiring and training staff
• Speaking at provider meetings, diabetic focus groups, etc

Compensation and Benefits

• Full-time Optometrist position
• Flexible scheduling, no weekends, holidays or on-call duties: choose 5-8 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts/week
• Competitive salary $135K - $160K DOE
• Relocation stipend
• Sign-on bonus
• Paid CE and licensure fees
