In accordance with customer specifications, the Shipping Clerk inspects and dispatches shipments
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan loads based upon customer due date to ensure on-time delivery and maximize use of trucks
- Direct forklift operators to arrange loads for shipment
- Verify shipments for accuracy
- Coordinate Customs paperwork with Customs Brokers
- Prepare packing lists, mill certified test reports, and bills of lading for loads
- Establish and maintain relationships with long haul carriers
- Locate and schedule long haul carriers for inbound and outbound shipments
- Manage local carriers
- Expedite shipments as needed
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards in finished goods warehouse
- Communicate with sales and plant production management to advise of delivery date or make production changes
- Communicate with customers regarding deliveries
- Learn receiving functions to act as back-up for receiving coordinator
- Assist in inventory management functions

- Ability to accurately use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
