Intake Technician - Zuni Social Services (Open Until Filled)

INTAKE TECHNICIAN

FT/REGULAR

NON EXEMPT - LEVEL 5

SALARY: 15.94

GENERAL DEFINITION :
This position is responsible for the initial intake process and includes interviewing clients, assessing the client’s needs, updating client records and making referrals to

other programs and services, including intake responsibility for all incoming reports of

abuse, neglect and/or exploitation involving children, and the elderly.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED :

Work is performed under the supervision of the Social Services Director.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED :

Nosupervisory duties.

DUTIES :

Receives abuse and neglect reports from Zuni Community, Zuni Programs and other agencies.

  • Initiates the intake assessment through an interview process.
  • Reviews and screens all incoming reports for appropriateness for investigation.
  • Determine risk and safety levels for prioritization of the Department’s response to the referral within the required time frames.
  • Initiates the Department response to the referral source acknowledging receipt of report.
  • Prepares case file with all pertinent information, face sheet, and forms required for investigation.
  • Forwards all case file reports to program supervisor for intake review of case acceptance; concurrence of prioritization will be reviewed and case assignments will be distributed for investigations.
  • Forwards all ICWA State Notices to the ICWA Worker with notification provided to the program Director.
  • Receives, reviews and screens for client Medicaid eligibility and certification, including medical passport.
  • Maintains log of all incoming reports for child and elder protection for statistical purposes.
Develop and maintain intake files and records management.
  • Develops and/or updates client folders with current demographic information, assessments and related documents.
    • Document client interactions and all relevant information in contact notes.
    • Complies and maintains appropriate records, logs, and reports.
  • Prepares, records and maintains the Department’s master log of all incoming reports of abuse and neglect and/or exploitation.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality of all privileged client information.
  • Maintains a statistical database of maltreatment, substance use, gender and age, and conducts quarterly reviews of all documents.
  • Assist in providing statistical data reports to funding agencies.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual statistical reports for the Director.
Provides Social Services on-call duty and assists with victim transports to appropriate facilities.
  • Must perform on-call duty after working hours and be available when Law enforcement requests assistance in assessing abuse and neglect of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Assist with transportation of clients to emergency shelters, residential treatment centers, and treatment foster care placement.

Coordinates awareness education, public presentations and training.

  • Provides education and awareness of the Department’s intake process, prioritizations and time frames, and referral response.
  • Participates in the program’s prevention and outreach activities.
  • Participate in team building activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of interview techniques. Knowledge in administering and interpreting assessment tools. Ability to establish and maintain records management. Efficiency with information gathering. Ability to effectively communicate verbally in Zuni and English. Must be adaptable to learning the Social Services Program processes as it relates to abuse, neglect and/or exploitation. Must have good customer service skills. Ability to exercise good judgment.

Ability to manage multiple priorities. Must be dependable and self-motivated. Must be computer literate, particularly with Microsoft software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook). Capable of working independently maintaining and updating statistical information. Must possess the capacity to accurately assess and determine intake decisions while being dependable and self motivated. Must be able to handle stressful situations with families.
