Position Title
Sports and Events Lead Non-Exempt Tamaya Wellness Center (TWC) Sports and Events Supervisor
Position SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Sports and Events Supervisor, develop, implement, coordinate, and monitor all Tamaya Wellness Center recreation and sports programming and activities for all ages. Coordinate staff, volunteers, facilities, and resources in providing programming.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist in developing and coordinating the implementation of recreational and sports programs and events.
- Transport participants to and from activities or programs.
- Assist in event planning and monitor the work of contractors and volunteers responsible for assigned recreational and sports activities.
- Promote recreation and sport activities by preparing and distributing marketing materials through community outreach.
- Communicate and implement approved department policies and procedures.
- Assist in tracking and preparing reports on operations and activities.
- Participate in the development and administration of the program budget.
- Assure an ongoing level of high standards for new and existing sports and events programs.
- Participate in a positive, supportive, and team-oriented environment.
- Assist with youth and operations programming as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1 year of community recreation and sports program experience.
- Certification or ability to obtain First Aid and CPR.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including motor vehicle check.
- 21 years old with a clean driving record.
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license and insurable under Pueblo’s insurance.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of recreation and sports program development and coordination.
- Knowledge of recreation and sports program safety compliance.
- Knowledge of basic business functions (writing, reports, basic math, budgets, office methods and equipment).
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in written format.
- Ability to prepare reports and present facts and information.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and to communicate and enforce policies.
- Skill in recreation activity and sports leadership.
- Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid, or ability to become certified within 30 days.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently walks, runs, and participates in fitness and sports activities. The employee occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work may require the use of computers with exposure to video display terminals, repetitive motion associated with data entry and mouse use.
Work is performed in an office, gym/fitness center, or outdoor setting with a moderate noise level. Employees may be exposed to unpleasant odors, hazardous materials, and infectious disease. Exterior work may involve natural weather conditions and dust. Situations requiring protective gloves or face shields may occur. The position requires significant evening and weekend work and frequent interaction with program participants and Pueblo of Santa Ana staff members.
