Job Title: Healthcare Security Officer – Flex/Float
Location: Danbury, New Milford & Sharon, CT
Schedule: Flex/Float – Flexible availability required (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
Pay Rate: $19.50 – $22.15 per hour (based on experience, assignment, and qualifications)

Position Summary

The Healthcare Security Officer – Flex/Float provides professional security services across multiple healthcare facilities in Danbury, New Milford, and Sharon. You will support a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by responding to incidents, enforcing site procedures, and delivering excellent customer service. This is a mobile, flexible role that fills coverage needs at different sites and on different shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide security services at assigned healthcare facilities in Danbury, New Milford, and Sharon, as directed by scheduling and operational needs.
  • Control access to facilities, departments, and restricted areas in line with site‑specific Assignment Instructions/Post Orders.
  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols to identify and report safety or security hazards.
  • Respond to security incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations (e.g., code calls, fire alarms, medical emergencies) and follow established procedures.
  • Assist clinical staff with managing disruptive, aggressive, or distressed individuals, using de‑escalation techniques and following hospital policies.
  • Monitor and protect people, property, and sensitive information in accordance with client and Securitas requirements.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident reports and daily activity logs.
  • Support enforcement of hospital policies (visitor management, identification badges, parking, smoking, etc.).
  • Provide directions, information, and general assistance to patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Work cooperatively with hospital staff, local law enforcement, and emergency responders when required.
  • Follow all health, safety, and infection‑control procedures, including use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in required training and maintain knowledge of site‑specific procedures and emergency plans.
Requirements
  • Flexible availability to work at all three locations (Danbury, New Milford, Sharon) and on all shifts
    , including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between sites.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses, registrations, and certifications required by state and local regulations and by Securitas/client policies.
  • Previous security, law enforcement, military, or healthcare security experience preferred, but not always required depending on local client needs.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills; able to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff in stressful situations.
  • Ability to remain calm, use sound judgment, and follow procedures during emergencies.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents throughout the facility.
  • Basic computer skills for report writing and email.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
