Bonquois Postdoctoral Fellow in Women's History

The Bonquois Postdoctoral Fellow in Women's History is a full-time, twelve-month position (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) at the Newcomb Institute. The fellow will be a historian whose research is intersectional and engages with the history of women and/or gender in the U.S. A research focus on 20th century women’s history in the Gulf South is preferred though not required.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct academic research in the field of women's history with an intersectional approach to gender, race, class, sexuality, ethnicity, community, and national identities.
  • Present research findings at a public lecture.
  • Engage in regular mentoring meetings with the Newcomb Institute Director of Research.
  • Join the interdisciplinary intellectual community at the Newcomb Institute and Tulane University.
  • Collaborate with one to two undergraduate research assistants.
  • Engage with the Newcomb Archives to produce an exhibit or other public-facing product related to the work.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Ph.D. in History, American Studies, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated research interests with an historical and intersectional approach to gender, reflecting how race, class, sexuality, ethnicity, community, and national identities interact.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research focus on 20th century women’s history in the Gulf South.
