Professor and Department Chair, Computer Science

Tulane University, a Carnegie‑R1 private research institution, seeks a visionary leader to chair a research‑intensive Computer Science department. The Chair will hold a tenured faculty position, report to the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and be responsible for advancing the department’s academic mission, managing operations, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

The department has experienced rapid growth, including new faculty, a new major in CS, a new minor in AI, and more than 120 % growth in research funding. Tulane’s cross‑disciplinary culture and the Louisiana Economic Development Office’s investment of $100 M+ for AI initiatives provide a fertile environment for a Chair to accelerate interdisciplinary, world‑class scholarship and social impact.

strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; personal qualities including collaboration, transparency, intelligence, vision, compassion, courage, humor, and unquestionable ethics and integrity.
