About Little Gate Program:
The Little Gate Program is play-based, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education. We view the child as capable and curious. This natural inquisitiveness leads children to explore, discover, question, experiment, and construct their own knowledge about the world they live in and their role in it.
Position
Description:
Louise S. McGehee’s Little Gate is looking for a reliable and compassionate After school Staff Member to join our team. Preferred candidates will have experience in the child care field, excellent communication skills, and a true love for teaching and nurturing children.
Essential Functions:
- Working directly with children
- You’ll be responsible for supervising children at all times. - Overseeing a snack
- Keeping children safe and learning the licensing standards for incidents and incident reports
- Working in a team setting
- Parent interaction
- Assist with student check in/check out process.
Work Schedule and Availability:
- Approximately 2 to 3 hours a day beginning after 2:00 p.m.
Candidates available to work four to five days a week are highly recommended.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students, fellow staff and community members.
- Able to walk up 3 flights of stairs
- Must be comfortable being in and around water
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Physical agility to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to reach, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk, to reach overhead, balance, bend, kneel, and to crouch.
- Combination of indoor and outdoor environments
- Exposure to; high noise levels, bodily fluids, infectious illness/diseases, occasional inclement weather
- Attend, facilitate and oversee outdoor play in multiple environments for approximately 1 to 2 hours per day.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical Stamina:
Most children have plenty of energy and need physical activity to stay healthy. Expect to be in motion during most of your time around children, whether you're participating in outdoor playtime or cleaning up after activities. Physical stamina allows you to stay engaged with children in a multitude of ways, providing a healthy, safe environment where you are able to react in the moment to each individual situation and its needs.
