Position SummaryTo serve as a member of the Student Evaluation and Support Services (SESS) Team in a program offering psychological, social, sensory, and educational services to children ages 3‑22. The SESS Team will service children through the Child Search Office and in non‑public school settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Functions as evaluation coordinator for designated referred students;
- Facilitates the Student Assistance Team (SATeam) process by participating as a representative of the Student Evaluation & Support Services team in providing feedback on best practices in the student assistance team process;
- Explains and interprets assessment services/findings to parents, teachers, principals, and other appropriate personnel;
- Implements and/or assists teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational and behavioral interventions for support services to clients;
- Provides a written report of any academic/behavioral support services provided to clients;
- Attends the Tier III data meetings to participate in the development of evidence-based interventions and to assist in the analysis of the plans’ effectiveness;
- Evaluates as a Student Evaluation & Support Services member and in accordance with Bulletin 1508, the Pupil Appraisal Handbook, those students suspected of being exceptional. Evaluations include activities such as appraisal of students’ developmental and educational functioning, descriptions of educational strategies, and needed academic and environmental adjustments and/or curricular modifications;
- Serves as a member of the Child Search Team by conducting functional/developmental assessments for preschool-aged children;
- Participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) staffing and service plan meetings, when appropriate.
- Master’s degree in Education, at least one year of experience in the certified special education area, as authorized by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education;
- Minimum of three years of experience as an Educational Diagnostician or comparable special education experience required; and
- Valid Louisiana Type A, B, or Level 2 or 3 teaching certified for generic special education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to special education;
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies; and
- Must possess basic computer skills and demonstrate the ability to use various types of software programs.
Salary range: $60,082 - $83,500 a year. Our salary offers reflect a commitment to equity and transparency. Each offer is determined by education, years of experience, and alignment with compensation across similar roles within the district.
Work Environment- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday;
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely;
- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely;
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely;
- Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting.
The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
