Overview

Speech Pathologist – Northshore at LCMC Health.

• Delivers clinically appropriate evaluation and therapy services to patients with disorders of communication and swallowing.
• Evaluates and treats developmental disorders, clinical dysphagia, Modified Barium Swallow study, speaking valve, and oral motor disorders.
• Ensures evaluations are timely and accurate.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates care for all assigned cases. In consultation with other disciplines, selects outcome goals and skilled interventions. Uses agency and community resources to achieve patient and family independence with care in the patient’s residence.
• Provides treatment to patients referred for Speech Therapy and to patients with a variety of diagnoses, adapting strategies to patient age, diagnosis, evidence, and best practice.
• Documents results of Speech Therapy services in the EMR within designated time frames. Ensures documentation and charges reflect time spent with the patient.
• May supervise students, Clinical Fellows, therapy technicians, and volunteers; may participate in departmental or programmatic activities.

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist through the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
• New graduates must obtain the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by ASHA within one year of hire.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
