Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist will support cardiovascular research studies in the Epidemiology Department by performing high-quality vascular ultrasound assessments in accordance with IRB-approved study protocols. This part-time role is integral to data collection efforts related to assessing endothelial function and vascular health in patients or study participants. The specialist will work closely with research investigators, clinicians, and study staff to ensure the accurate and consistent acquisition of Flow-Mediated Dilation (FMD) brachial artery ultrasounds.
Work is performed in a clinical research setting with exposure to standard imaging equipment. This position may require flexible scheduling including occasional weekends or evenings based on participant availability. The position requires standing for extended periods, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to lift or position patients. Exposure to standard ultrasound equipment and imaging environments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized imaging protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially when working with diverse participant populations.
- Excellent communication, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using high-frequency linear transducers and imaging software for vascular studies.
Required Background Check, Physical, and Drug Screening
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
Required Education And/or Experience
- Graduated from a CAAHEP-accredited associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Certification (ARDMS, RVT or RDMS with vascular emphasis) required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in vascular ultrasound, with specific experience in FMD or similar non-invasive vascular assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with clinical research imaging protocols.
- Familiarity with vascular function analysis software (e.g., Brachial Analyzer, MATLAB-based tools).
- BLS certification.
