Nurse Practitioner - Instructor of Clinical Medicine

Assist physicians in the inpatient service with End Stage Kidney Disease. See patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in outpatient clinics and hospital follow-ups. Educate CKD and pre-dialysis patients in outpatient settings. See patients in the outpatient hemodialysis unit. Participate in clinical trials. Must be people-oriented, able to work with diverse patient populations, and willing to learn. Expected to collaborate with the section chief, faculty members, and fellows in an academic medical center setting, and interact with dialysis unit staff.

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Certified Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority
• Work experience with patients in hospital/clinic settings is essential

Required:

Master's degree in Nursing

Preferred: 3 years of related working experience

• Louisiana State License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
• Eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority as per the Louisiana State Board of Nursing

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Proficiency in Windows applications and role-specific software
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of APRN policies and protocols at departmental and system levels
• Reliable transportation for travel between facilities
