Our client, a mission-critical financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Mainframe Storage Engineer - IBM Z, DS8000 Copy Services & GDPS to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have strong ownership mindset, the ability to operate independently in a contractor/delivery role, and a proven track record of ensuring high availability, resiliency, and regulatory compliance in enterprise mainframe storage environments which will align successfully in the organization.

Location:

Operate and support IBM DS8000 (Gen9/Gen
10) and associated mainframe storage environments to keep mission-critical services running reliably. Design, implement, and support Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, Global Copy, and Hyper Swap replication capabilities to enable multi-site resiliency. Support continuous availability and GDPS-managed replication, ensuring data protection and recovery readiness across sites. Implement and validate Safeguarded Copy / immutable backup patterns and cyber-resilient recovery designs. Execute and validate DR tests, recovery automation, and control evidence to meet audit and security baseline requirements.

What's Needed?

Strong, hands-on experience with IBM Z / zOS mainframe storage, including DS8000 Copy Services and GDPS. Working knowledge of z/OS I/O architecture (CHPIDs, control units, paths) and FICON concepts, including multi-pathing.

Experience with DR, resiliency, cyber-recovery, and immutable backup patterns in highly regulated environments. Proven ability to operate in 24x7, mission-critical production settings and support enterprise-scale storage operations (including multi-data center / multi-region environments). 7-12+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise mainframe storage environments, with strong experience producing and validating control evidence.
