Job Description

Commercial Claims & Changes Coordinator - This position provides assessment, coordinating and preparation of change orders on a major commuter rail infrastructure expansion project in the NYC metro area. As the claims and changes coordinator, the candidate will provide the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Construction & Development project team with critical services to assess and advance change orders on this $1.8B design-build project.

Core Responsibilities

• Reviewing contract language and researching contract plans and documents in order to identify eligibility and merit for potential changes orders
• Assisting in preparation of correspondence that lays out contractual positions of MTA
• Assisting in preparation of request for change proposals
• Assisting in preparation of change orders
• Updating the Change Log, tracking of issue status (estimates, change summaries, etc.)
• Provide detailed reports to Senior Management on change management status,
• Providing contract research on issues requiring clarification
• Maintain change order tracker
• Assessment of contractor-provided time and materials records for payment eligibility

You’ll thrive here if you have

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in a Change Order, Office Engineer, or similar construction/project support role.
• Experience working with New York State capital construction agencies is preferred; experience with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
