American Traveler is seeking a Behavioral Health RN for a locked psychiatric unit requiring MN RN licensure and 1 year of specialty experience.
Requirements- Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in behavioral health specialty
- Epic/Excellian charting experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in administering antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications
- Experience caring for patients with anxiety, depressive, personality, PTSD, psychotic, schizophrenia-spectrum, and trauma-related disorders
- Proficient in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavior management techniques
- Knowledge of seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, and emergency chemical restraint procedures preferred
- Experience with locked unit treatment settings preferred
- Familiarity with legal aspects of voluntary/involuntary commitment preferred
- Code Green de-escalation training preferred
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- 10-bed locked behavioral health unit
- Patient assignments typically range between 3 and 4 patients
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirements
- May float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Epic/Excellian EMR experience required
- Provide direct care to psychiatric patients in a locked behavioral health unit
- Administer medications and implement therapeutic interventions for various psychiatric conditions
- Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage assaultive or self-injurious behavior
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility, with no local exceptions for this specialty
- Previous employees must have been separated from perm staff or per diem roles for at least 3 months before returning
- RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days
- Pre-start modules are required for onboarding
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though travel experience is preferred
