This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager to be based out of the MTA Headquarters in lower Manhattan, New York. Be a part of our Transportation team and a member of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

This position is working as part of the MTA's Small Business Development and Mentoring Program managing multiple projects from Procurement through Construction, Final Acceptance and Closeout. Project Manager will report to MTA offices at 2 Broadway but is expected to spend significant time in the field at numerous project sites, mentoring contractors and overseeing construction work, assuring quality and contract compliance, training Small Business Contractors on how to perform the tasks necessary for progressing and completing MTA projects.

Projects are throughout the New York metropolitan area supporting all MTA Agencies.

Your Impact:

* Working independently on multiple projects performing constructability reviews, supporting MTA Procurement Division through the bid process and award of the project, reviewing submittals including material submissions, RFIs, shop drawings, Quality Work Plans, Safety Work Plans, Phasing Plans, Look-a-head schedules, and Change Order Requests.

* Visiting construction sites to monitor the contractual compliance of all construction activities and the performance of inspection and supervisory staff with a primary focus on quality of work.

* Provide direction and guidance to Contractors and project staff for all construction operations and submission requirements.

* Schedule and conduct regular job progress meetings.

* Review daily reports.

* Oversee project staff in the performance of field tests of construction materials and the compliance with

* Contract Documents including contract drawings, specifications, approved shop drawings and work plans.

* Coordinate, schedule, and interact with MTA staff for services including inspections, access and protection, flagging, and safety.

* Monitor and report on Contractors' performance and project status.

* Manage and administer the preparation and review of contract payment requests while tracking contract budgets.

* Ensure the contractors and supervision field staff are conforming to all environmental, health and safety standards including any safety reporting requirements.

* Manage the scheduling and performance of Special Inspections and Random Drug and Alcohol Testing.

* Work with the Contractor to minimize disruptions to the public in compliance with project phasing plans, MPT plans and permits.

* Pro-actively review the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and discuss potential project issues with Project field staff and MTA management.

* Keep the MTA management informed on all field concerns, schedule impacts, budget matters, contract discrepancies, differing field conditions and inadequate contractor performance.

* Electronic entry of data and reports into web-based construction management software applications.

* Provide mentoring to MTA Small Business Contractors for the necessary performance and submissions to meet project completion dates and to improve performance.

* Prepare written correspondence as needed for all project issues.

* Exposure to railroad construction environments and year-round weather conditions.

* Potential for limited working on nights and weekends.

* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a satisfactory equivalent (e.g. CCM or PMP certification).

* Minimum of 7 to10 years of satisfactory, full-time experience in Design and/or Construction Management.

* Infrastructure construction experience with the work of the MTA or similar public agency.

* Significant experience in effectively managing small contractors on multiple projects while adhering to budget and schedule.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
