Senior Designer

Rachel Comey is seeking a Senior Designer with a passion for tailoring and the nuanced details that transform a good garment into a great one. We are looking for a sophisticated designer with an eye for excellence and newness. A strong understanding of fabric, construction, and modern silhouettes is essential. Experience and enthusiasm for denim is highly relevant, though not required.

We are seeking a creative, thoughtful, and inspired individual to join our design team.

• Design and develop fresh silhouettes, innovative fabrications, and thoughtful collections.
• Balance creativity with function, ensuring excellence in fit, tailoring, fabrication, and comfort.
• Uphold and evolve the Rachel Comey design language while staying attuned to cultural and lifestyle shifts.
• Partner closely with pattern making, production, sales, and merchandising teams to ensure strong cross-department collaboration.
• Contribute to a supportive, ambitious, and open-minded design culture.

• Strong understanding of garment construction, tailoring, and proportion.
• Passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and design at the highest level.
• Ability to interpret and anticipate trends in modern dressing, fashion, and lifestyle.

Next year marks our 25th year as an independent design and manufacturing company based in Lower Manhattan. Since 2001, we’ve grown steadily thanks to our loyal customers and wholesale partners. We remain outside the center spotlight, cultivating creativity, fresh ideas, and collaboration—the qualities that make New York City unique.

Our in-house studio includes a full pattern and sample room with three senior pattern makers skilled in draping and CAD development, as well as a cutting and sewing team led by senior tailors. We’re also expanding our workspace to bring our merchandising, sales, and administration teams under one roof by the end of this year. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade, and we’re excited to grow into our next chapter together.

Salary range: $90,000–$110,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
