Garage is a marketplace for local governments to buy and sell their equipment (from radios to fire trucks). Today, equipment and vehicles bought on Garage already serve millions of Americans across all 50 states, helping cities stretch their budgets further.

We’ve raised $18M to date, funded by Y Combinator and Initialized Capital, among others. We’re a small, talent-dense team (ex
- Twitter, Ramp, Goldman Sachs, Pay Pal, Honey, Mem AI) based in NYC. As our founding designer, you’ll report directly to the founders and CTO.

We believe that design sits at the core of our success. With so many products out there, exceptional design is foundational to becoming a leader in our industry. We want to set a new standard of excellence and build the marketplace of the future.

• We’re looking for someone to shape and grow the design function across both brand and product.

• Own the visual design of our products, mainly relating to end-to-end buyer and seller experiences on the marketplace.

• Create visually compelling sales and marketing materials (static and video) that will be consumed by hundreds of thousands around the country.

• Work closely with marketing and engineering to ship high-fidelity designs.

• Talk to customers and use data, research, and iteration to continuously improve user experiences.

• Help us build out our design team, and dive deep into areas that you find more interesting as we grow.

• Ability and willingness to work in-person in NYC.

• A creative designer comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-performance startup environment.

• Expertise in UX, with a deep understanding of user flows, interaction design, and usability.

• A sharp eye for visual design and detail-oriented.

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
