TITLE: Adjunct Professional Assistant - Biology

CAMPUS: Ammerman Campus in Selden

START DATE: 1/26/2026

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Part Time

RANK: Faculty

Responsibilities

Adjunct Professional Assistants are members of the faculty who provide academic support services and technical assistance in a specific discipline or area. Under the direction of a classroom instructor, full time PA, or an administrator, the PA will perform simple and routine equipment maintenance, maintain inventory, maintain SDS files, and handle chemical wastes. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a clean, organized, accessible, well-supplied, and safe learning environment.
  • Use of first aid kits, and cleaning supplies.
  • Follow procedures for the safe handling of hazardous waste.
  • Know and follow safety procedures for a biohazard level 2 lab.
  • Preparing solutions and specimens for use in lab.
  • Setting up and taking down lab materials.
  • Maintaining inventory of chemicals, media, supplies to facilitate smooth operation of laboratory classes.
  • Maintaining technical equipment for classroom use.
  • Report and assist the full time PAs by keeping them informed of laboratory needs, and activities.
  • Maintaining special collections to include specimens and display cases.
Minimum Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biology

Preferred: Experience in a laboratory environment.
