Postdoctoral Associate, School of Public Health and Health Professions

Several Postdoctoral Associate positions are available in the School of Public Health and Health Professions as part of our Pathways to the Professoriate Program. The purpose of the program is to help diversify the public health professoriate, attract and retain academics scholars who are underrepresented, and prepare them for tenure‑track positions.

The postdoctoral associate(s) will receive mentoring, research collaborations, and access to data, and will build their research programs in preparation for a tenure‑track position at our university or another research‑intensive university.

The School can support postdoctoral associates in the following areas:

  • Food access and nutritional insecurity, including the impacts of food scarcity on eating behavior
  • Addictions, especially tobacco control
  • Women’s health
  • Chronic diseases of aging
  • Environmental exposure and health in vulnerable populations

At the time of appointment the postdoctoral scholar must have been awarded a doctoral degree (or completed all the requirements of such) in an appropriate field within the past five years.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a related public health field, within five years of graduation
  • Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and research participants
  • Organization, problem solving, and analytical thinking
  • Effective written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a supported research area
  • Planning for extramural funding

Special Instructions

  • Statement of Research Interests: Applicants must submit a statement of research interests and experiences, including plans to pursue extramural funding and potential mentors.

Salary Range: $68,000 - $70,000. Full‑time position, South Campus.
