Job Description: The Workforce and Training Partnerships (WTP) Coordinator will establish and develop workforce and training partnerships for North Bronx Career Counseling and Outreach Center (NBCCOC) constituents. The Coordinator will connect community partners and Center constituents with the NBCCOC College Connections Initiative (CCI) and Career Services offices, leading to increased job placements and college placements. They will provide services to participants (non-traditional, adult learners, and high school students) to increase college readiness, access to post‑secondary options, workforce training, and workforce preparation.
The Coordinator will facilitate college advising to support assigned participants with the college application process and help implement service activities outlined in the current CCI and career services program plans. Incumbent will help identify on‑site or external workforce training programs for constituents. The role requires flexibility with scheduling and availability Monday – Friday, 9 am‑5 pm, with occasional overnight and weekend travel.
- Develop partnerships with area workforce development community organizations, higher education institutions, and businesses with the aim of building pathways to work and higher education for constituents.
- Participate in the establishment of formal partnership agreements which lead to job training and job placements.
- Develop working relationships with community partners to increase student referrals and requests for services.
- Assist with outreach and recruitment for participants and job seekers at high schools, community‑based organizations, community events, and via NBCCOC current students and alumni.
- Assist with the intake process for interested applicants to enroll and engage in postsecondary and career services planning activities.
- Coordinate with CCI Advisor to establish a student action plan for assigned participants to identify service goals and address barriers to participants’ postsecondary plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling to program participants and community members to support college readiness and career exploration.
- Coordinate with CCI Advisor on plans for college tours and information sessions for program participants and chaperone during college tours.
- Search and distribute information on college fairs to participants and job fairs to career services participants.
- Assist participants with registering for relevant events.
- Refer participants to on‑site ATTAIN Lab, external partners, and relevant EOCs to utilize available resources for college planning process and vocational trainings.
- Record and track student services and activities into Banner database system. Use internal program tracking tools daily.
- Assist with data collection, review, and development of program reports as requested by Supervisor and Executive Director.
- Participate in individual and staff meetings as facilitated by Supervisor and Executive Director.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education, Guidance Counseling, Social Work, Human Service, Psychology, Sociology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in advising underserved students (adult learners, high school and non‑traditional students) in an educational, community or school‑based setting or workforce development program.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience building educational and career pathways with community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions.
- Strong knowledge of higher education systems and workforce development opportunities within New York City and New York State.
- Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with education administrators, guidance/college counseling staff, college admissions representatives, community‑based organizations, and businesses.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills, organization, presentation, leadership, and time‑management skills are necessary.
