Position Overview

We are seeking a relational, gospel-centered Part-Time Youth Group Pastor to disciple and shepherd our middle and high school students (Grades 7–12) in the heart of New York City. This role is vital to our mission of raising up the next generation of Christ followers within a Reformed, Presbyterian framework. The Youth Pastor will be responsible for leading weekly gatherings, developing mentoring relationships, and creating a culture where students can explore and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities:

Discipleship & Teaching
  • Lead weekly youth group Friday gatherings focused on biblical teaching, worship, prayer, and fellowship.
  • Teach the gospel with clarity and conviction, rooted in the Reformed tradition and relevant to the lives of teens.
  • Encourage students to grow in personal devotion, Scripture engagement, and participation in the life of the church.
Relational Ministry
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with students through intentional presence, one-on-one conversations, and pastoral care.
  • Be available to counsel and pray with students as needed, providing spiritual support through life’s challenges.
  • Partner with parents, offering encouragement and communication to support discipleship in the home.
Leadership & Programming
  • Plan and lead weekly youth group Friday meetings, occasional weekend events, and seasonal retreats (Summer and Winter).
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and gospel-centered environment where students feel known, valued, and loved.
  • Recruit and lead adult volunteers who assist in ministering and discipling the youth group.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
  • Communicate regularly with church staff and parents regarding youth ministry updates and events.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and leadership gatherings as needed.
  • Ensure that all youth activities comply with the church’s child protection and safety policies.
Qualifications:
  • A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle marked by integrity, humility, and grace.
  • A love for teenagers and a clear calling to disciple the next generation in Christ.
  • Agreement with the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms and commitment to the theological distinctives of the Reformed tradition.
  • Previous youth ministry experience (volunteer or paid) strongly preferred.
  • Seminary education (completed, in progress, or planning to pursue) at a Reformed Seminary required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relational skills in a multicultural, urban context.
Ministry Vision:

We believe that youth are not merely the future of the church — they are vital members of Christ’s body today. Our church is committed to nurturing them in gospel truth, inviting them to live in grace, and preparing them to serve their neighbors and glorify God. The Youth Group Pastor will play a key role in walking with students through their formative years, helping them develop a personal, durable, and Reformed Christian faith that can thrive in the real world.
