Teen Coordinator (North Brooklyn YMCA) – YMCA of Greater New York
Position Overview
Part‑Time / Regular
Hourly rate: $18.04 – $20.00
The YMCA of Greater New York is dedicated to empowering youth, improving health, and strengthening community. Founded in 1852, today the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services in our 24 branches.
The North Brooklyn YMCA is seeking a Teen Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen Coordinator will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs, including staffing, program development, outreach, recruitment, and community partnerships with local schools. Teen programs run during the school year (after school, Saturday evenings) and in summer.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure health, safety, and well‑being of teens by providing close supervision.
- Manage administrative data entry and coordinate participant paperwork across systems such as Youth and AS400.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, workshops, and special events with support from part‑time teen counselors.
- Facilitate teen programming in the absence of the Teen Advisor.
- Lead programming focused on social‑emotional learning and skill development.
- Support marketing and distribution of program information and compile program statistics.
- Help develop, implement, and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Establish and maintain links with service providers, CBOs, schools, and other partners.
- Attend scheduled meetings, training sessions, and special events related to teen programming.
- Participate in Branch Fundraising / Annual Support Campaign.
- Act as liaison between the YMCA of Greater New York and teen issues.
- Provide support to the Youth & Family Director with staff management and scheduling.
- Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
- Create a diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant environment for teens.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in education or social work desired.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with teens or youth and planning activities.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Current First Aid / CPR / AED certifications preferred.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfort working with multicultural youth and adults.
