Job Summary
The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor (12MO). The successful candidate will:

  • Teach and supervise students in areas of specialization, including doctoral-level courses.
  • Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through expert teaching.
  • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Use innovative, active learning strategies in the classroom and beyond.
  • Plan clinical and simulation experiences and provides direct supervision and evaluation of students delivering nursing care, as needed.
  • Advise students in the area of doctoral work.
  • Mentor students in evidence-based research and scholarship.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on student’s performance.
  • Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures.
  • Grade homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work promptly.
  • Report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Community Partnerships.
  • Direct research of other teachers or graduate students working for advanced academic degrees.
  • Conduct research and publishes findings in professional journals.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing.
  • Current New York State APRN License.
  • National Certification.
  • 4+ years of teaching experience in academia and minimum 3 to 5 years of clinical practice experience in the area of specialization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Evidence of current scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience in Doctor of Nursing Practice education.
