Principal Environmental Engineer
GFT

Location: New York, NY

Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid – in-person and remote)

Work Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM

Salary Range: $178,000 – $250,000 (dependent on experience)

Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental engineering analysis and design for planning, site investigation, remediation, and remedial operations.
  • Develop project plans, design calculations, specifications, cost estimates, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide remedial engineering expertise, evaluate remedial options, and prepare remediation designs and cost estimates.
  • Lead environmental revenue growth initiatives in New York and execute business development plans.
  • Manage and implement environmental investigation and remediation projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate and present design submissions to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, and bid packages; prepare reports and estimates.
  • Explore new concepts, define scope, and develop investigative strategies.
  • Act as technical liaison within and outside GFT on technical matters for environmental projects.
  • Represent GFT at client, regulatory, and stakeholder meetings to discuss design and permitting issues.
  • Supervise staff, evaluate performance, ensure quality assurance, and coach team members.
  • Oversee staff utilization, project profitability, and collections.
  • Lead technical proposal teams or major proposal components.
  • Engage in professional development aligned with career goals.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
  • New York Professional Engineer License.
  • 15+ years of environmental remediation experience in a consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in design of varied soil and groundwater remedial systems.
  • Knowledge of New York and New Jersey environmental laws.
  • Strong client outreach skills.
  • Proven business development experience and ability to execute growth plans.
  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and high-quality work products.
  • Leadership experience and desire to train and lead a professional team.
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania environmental laws.
  • Construction bid specification experience.
  • Experience with LNAPL and chlorinated hydrocarbon investigation/remediation.

Compensation

Salary range: $178,000 – $250,000. Commensurate with experience and location.
