Overview

Geotechnical Engineer | NYC | Lead Urban Foundations & Shape the Ground Beneath the City

You want more than just data and diagrams—you want to shape the foundation of cities. If you're an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with a track record in urban ground investigation, foundation design, and subsurface construction oversight, this is a chance to step into a technically rich and community-driven role.

This opportunity gives you exposure—from field investigations to design to construction monitoring—on high-profile, complex projects across NYC and the surrounding region. You’ll work alongside civil, structural, and environmental experts to create resilient infrastructure where it matters most.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct and oversee geotechnical explorations including borings, CPTs, and test pits across NYC and the Tri-State area
  • Design and execute field and lab testing programs with precision and purpose
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, design analyses, and foundation recommendations using tools like AutoCAD, gINT, APile, LPile, and more
  • Perform calculations for deep foundations, slope stability, settlement, and ground improvement techniques
  • Oversee Special Inspections during construction: subgrade prep, density testing, underpinning, and SOE
  • Act as a trusted project manager across multiple assignments—on time, on budget, and always technically sound
What You’ll Bring
  • 8–12 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a focus on foundation systems and construction oversight
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (Master’s with Geotechnical focus is a plus)
  • EIT required; PE preferred (or ability to obtain NYS PE within 6 months)
  • Software-savvy with tools like gINT, PLAXIS, GRLWEAP, Shake 2000, and Slide
  • Willingness to travel across NY, NJ, CT, and Long Island
  • OSHA 10/HAZWOPER a plus, especially for field-heavy roles

This Geotechnical Engineer role will challenge you technically, engage you across disciplines, and elevate your career in a way few firms can. If you want your work to stand the test of time—literally from the ground up—this is your next move.

Let’s connect. I’d be happy to share more details and help you take the first step.
